Daily Travels in the UK (and beyond)
Read about the daily journeys of our busiest driver, delivering cars. taking trains. walking and much more

10th February 26. South to West London
A later start today. Due to the delivery of a Mercedes C300 to a retail customer in Crawley, who wanted the car delivered at lunchtime. So I walked to Mercedes Aylesbury and collected the car at 11.30. the car was ready to go and I quickly, but thoroughly finished the appraisal on the app I received the job from. 2019 Mercedes C300 To be honest the cars from this place are always immaculate and rarely have anything to report on the appraisal. Actually the drive to Crawley wen

9th February 26. Kent Again.
I like an early start as you know. But after the weekend off I felt ready for the job again. I had booked an early collection slot at BCA Rochester. Or Kingsnorth to call it right. So the early train to London, getting off at Harrow on the Hill onto the Metropolitan line to St Pancras international for the train to Ramsgate. St Pancras international I can get off at either Strood or Rochester station as they are the same distance from the BCA site. Which is right on the Tham

5th February 26 Mayfair Memories
Three jobs today, or rather two and one collection. Meant an early start to take the Discovery Sport collected yesterday to Chelmsford Land Rover. The early morning drive from Aylesbury to Chelmsford means A41 then M25 clockwise to the A12 a stretch that can normally be ok. Define ok right? But today the rain was torrential again and made me happy to be in a Land Rover product. Any mention of Land Rover on social media is always met with the same derisory comments about relia

4th February 26. Wigan
Early start today as I'm delivering the MG, I collected finally last night new battery was the remedy for the engine light that came on when I initially tried to collect the car last Saturday. The car was going to Wigan, Lancashire. Or precisely a place called Orrell. Setting off around 5.30am the drive was a simple one. From Aylesbury to Bicester to pick up the M40 towards Birmingham. Then the M42 and M6 toll. Which I believe can save a minimum of 20 minutes and potentiall

3rd February 26. Doncaster
Today's collection of another van from BCA Doncaster means an early start to deliver the VW Golf I collected on Friday to Citroen Sheffield. Golf Delivered Leaving around 5.30am to arrive at Sheffield for opening time. Aylesbury to Sheffield The M1 was clear of issues and it took me just over 3 hours. I arrived at 8.30 and a salesman kindly checked it in for me on his arrival. The downside to my arrival time was rush hour traffic to get to the station. An Uber summoned. I ha

2nd February 26. To Dover, Folkestone and Home
On Saturday during my time off 😁 I again, stuck lucky and recieved and alert that there was a job on the platform I use. It was going to Dover from Aylesbury. I was heading to Folkestone on Monday anyway to collect a Kia Niro for my customer in Oxford. The second stroke of luck was the car going from Aylesbury to Dover was at the dealership I do a lot of work for. And used to be the manager there. So I am on good terms with them all. Normally collecting a Motability return

31st January 26 Saturday morning
A nice relaxing weekend ahead. But first to drop off the Mercedes C Convertible part exchange to Mercedes Aylesbury. Then collect my BMW with it's new MOT and rear shock absorbers. A couple of advisories for rear disc brake wear, a brake pipe being covered in dirt and strangely a minor oil leak. That they couldn't actually tell me where from. But not dripping on the ground just very minor. Back home until later. When I had to collect a car for delivery on Monday. An MG ZS pe

30th January 26 Month End.
This morning I had some time before collection of the afternoon delivery of a Mercedes for the dealership here. Their customer demanded, as they do, the car delivered on a Friday afternoon to Cheltenham. Luckily there is a part exchange to come back with, so I didn't mind too much. I also had a collection on Monday from Doncaster. And a job landed perfectly for me on the job app I am on this morning. To collect a VW Golf from Aylesbury to go to Sheffield. So I grabbed the jo

29th January 26. Day After the Storm
After the 16 hours working yesterday. Today was like a calm lazy day. Not that any day is a lazy day for me. And every day is a calm day now I have been doing this work. One of my old BMWs needs an MOT today and I had booked it in last week 1996 BMW 318i I bought this to save the use of my other one I brought back from Sicily. The 328i is in storage. This was going to be a car just to use for anytime we need it . It's first ever drive in our hands had been a drive to Scotland

28th January 26 six job day.
My busiest day so far since starting this little enterprise I had six jobs and four of them subcontracted out to other people who I now trust. Finding those people has been a very difficult learning curve. I will tell you about two really awful experiences when I recap last year. Coming soon.. Let's get the four jobs I didn't do , out of the way. One was a collection from BCA Doncaster going to my customer in Aylesbury. The second a Kia Sportage collection from Cardiff, going

14th July 25. Rewind!
Being more busy than ever. Means I have been lacking time to go back to last year. My apologies. Looking at my online diary for the 14th of July 25. It was the busiest day of last year. Having four jobs to do. Alone. Quite a coincidence, as I write this I'm about to tell you about a day in January. That turned out to be the busiest ever. That is next. If you remember I had collected a car on the Thursday 10th July. Today was the delivery day. It was going to a dealer in Ashin

27th January 26 Chelmsford to Kent and back.
On Saturday I was monitoring the jobs on one of the many platforms I am connected to. And saw a job from Aylesbury to Chelmsford. I was going today to BCA Rochester again to collect a Ford Transit Luton van for my Aylesbury customer. And having travelled last week from Chelmsford to Rochester I knew it was an easy journey and this job would get me there and I get paid for it. It saves me around £30 on the train from Aylesbury. And I get paid for the job so I'm well over £130

26th January 26. Grimsby Again.
I'm sure Grimsby is a nice place. I actually must visit for longer and find out. That's the problem sometimes with this work. Well it is for me. My non-stop nature, doesn't allow me to spend time and relax and take in the places I go to. My issue with it is simple, time. It takes me too long to get here. The train from Aylesbury leaves at 5.37am I don't get to Grimsby station until 12.00 noon. By then I want to collect the car and get back. And from Grimsby I always get back

24th January 26. Saturday in Sheerness
Another job on a Saturday for one of my customers, who I hate letting down. I collected the car last night to enable an early start. Which I have to be honest, on a Saturday I really enjoy. At the moment I'm happy to oblige. Being alone at home as my wife is back in Brazil to see to business for a few months. Doing these extra weekend jobs gets me out and stops me sitting at home looking for things to do. Collecting the car last night the battery was flat. But I drove it arou
