9th June 25. Frustrating job 1

The early start today was to head east to Norwich. I was delivering the 2012 Hyundai I35 I collected on Friday to an independent dealer in Norwich. Another beautiful sunny day ahead and it's starting to get warmer and feels like a hot summer coming.

I decided to take the Aylesbury to Milton Keynes then Bedford on the A421 and head up the A1 briefly and then navigate the road to Cambridge which is still full of major works .

It's a 3 hours drive, given a stop for a sausage and egg muffin and orange juice on the A11 McDonald's. On route.

Arriving at bang on 9.00am . The dealer was friendly and chatty and we discussed the retail motor business for a while and I finished my appraisal and jumped in the pre booked Uber to Norwich station.

I got the next train to London and decided to use the much cheaper option of going to Stratford and getting the underground from there. I needed the underground anyway and it halved the cost of the ticket. It pays to know this stuff.

Once arrived at Stratford it was a central line journey to Whitechapel and then the district line to Hammersmith to then get a bus going west to Hounslow. I used the bus as I was going to Mercedes Benz West London. On the A4 and a long walk from the nearest tube station. And I had plenty of time today.

I went upstairs as the view from the top of a London bus is always more interesting and on a lovely sunny day. I enjoyed the views through Hammersmith and then Chiswick. Past my old house and stomping ground in the 90s. When you could buy a two bed Victorian apartment in a nice street for around £100k.

After Chiswick and once past the western part before the roundabout. A stretch that back in the 90s had a BMW dealer on the corner of a cut through to Chiswick Park station and a small Renault dealership. Now long gone . Called Roundabout Garage. They had a site in Chelsea too at the time. Directly below a rather infamous apartment block frequented by politicians and prostitutes.

Also I remember a place called Chequered Flag. A prestige car dealer who moved, I think to Hammersmith.

So once past the Roundabout which joins Chiswick to the north and south to the north and south circular road.

Then it's Brentford and a row of huge car dealers. Kia, Audi, Mercedes. BMW moved to the A4 near SKY TV HQ.

Onto why, today was frustrating. This short job from Hounslow to Leighton Buzzard was to deliver the car in the header photo. A Mercedes Benz CL 500 AMG.

Sounds like fun. Actually not even close.

I took the job as it saved me getting a train home. From Leighton Buzzard it's a £3 bus ride door to door.

I was getting £45 for the job so it should have been a winner.

The car had nearly no fuel. Sometimes you win with fuel. Today was a loser. Cost me £25 in fuel. I put £20 in when I left Brentford.

Driving slowly so I got there. The fuel range was closed. But dropped dramatically so I had to top up closer to the destination.

So I actually only pressed the accelerator once. And that was disappointing too.

Give me a 2012 E90 M3 anyday.

A truly disappointing experience all round.
