28th May 25. 3 into 2 does work
Today is a first for my new (ish) career. I have three jobs. But only doing two of them. I have finally let go of the reins and sub-contracted a job out to another company. This is something you either want to do to grow your own little business, (or, big business). Or you don't, and want to just have yourself to worry about and just travel and earn some pocket money. The pros and cons of both are something you need to think about joining Just1idea-work.com . Will help you de

Working on Saturday: A Day in the Life of a Car Collector
The Perks of Working on a Saturday Working on Saturday has its advantages. I did it for selfish reasons. I wanted the day off yesterday to watch the Trophy parade in Liverpool. Unfortunately, that turned sour at the end. But the scenes when the buses were on the Strand? Incredible! Back to normal duties today. Fitting a few jobs into the day proved difficult, but I managed to get things done. The Journey Begins First up, I had to head to Aylesbury railway station. I caught a

24th May 25. Saturday working again.
Yesterday I had a call from an independent dealer just outside Aylesbury. Actually it was just outside Tring. Actually it was a long way out of Tring. My usual attention to detail had eluded me and my being blinded by the thought of a new customer and an HP postcode. I accepted the job offered. It was a small independent used car dealer who needed a car delivered to a retail customer. All sounds good yes? I had looked far to quickly at getting to the dealership and thought

23rd May 25 Aylesbury, Bournemouth, to Alfreton. Via London.
This was always going to be a challenge. Leaving early enough to get to Christchurch NR Bournemouth for opening time. I took the slightly risky but educated guess that the independent dealer, the Nissan X-Trail, I collected yesterday was going to this morning. Would be someone, old school. Gets into the business early and gets things done before opening time. When very few customers arrive anyway. The drive was in glorious sunshine again and it was just an amazing early morni

22nd May 25. Two and a half jobs
A busy day ahead two shortish jobs then a collection of a car for tomorrows early delivery. Firstly I get the bus to Leighton Buzzard to the prep centre for another new Peugeot delivery to a customer. But not far away, as in Gerrards Cross. In fact it's only 37 miles. But once collected and the appraisal process done at the prep centre in Leighton Buzzard. The security man at the gate signs me out . I'm off across country roads and back routes to the customer. I arrive in go

21st May 25. Day off?
This was a spare day, I had planned to stay home and work on the website, among other things. But yesterday time ran away. Probably due to the weather, which was so good, I decided to walk the 25 minutes from the station to the collection point of the car. My customer in Oxford was happy enough to get the car first thing this morning, so no issues. I decided on an early start to get there for opening time. This meant I was home early enough to get some work done. So off to O

20th May 25. Coalville, Lincoln and Oxford. Eventually.
Another Peugeot delivery to a retail customer from the prep centre in Leighton Buzzard. Then to Coalville north west of Leicester. To collect a car bought by a dealer in Oxford. The bus from Aylesbury to Leighton Buzzard now goes a different way and stops directly opposite the prep centre. So the 7.02 bus now gets me there around 7.40am. this gives me a great time advantage as I now arrive earlier than the other drivers, so no waiting too long for the car to be handed over.

19th May 25. Up North Again
Back to normal duties today after a lovely weekend. Football season over. A long summer ahead. Even though the weather has been incredible for a good two months nearly. No rain. Mostly blue skies and sunshine. Can it last much longer? So, today I have to take the Vauxhall Mokka I collected Saturday morning. To Vertu, Vauxhall Chesterfield. I've been here a few times now It 's a Vauxhall and MG site I have both collected and delivered cars a few times, so I know that Ubers her

18th May. Chilton Hills Classic car show
Spending my Sunday off, looking at, instead of driving cars today. But today is an annual event I only knew about and started going to because the dealership I was manager of sponsors this gathering. It's officially called the Chilton Hills Classic Car Show. But there is a music stage and lots of stalls selling classic car parts, food of all kinds and various car related memorabilia and other things. My personal favourite the FIAT 500 Some of the people I worked with here hav

17th May 25. Quick Collection day
As I've said often. I don't work on Saturday. But today's job was prompted by a job I received late yesterday from my customer in Aylesbury. Who needed a car collection from Rotherham on Monday. So a quick scan through the apps to find a job to get there or close. I found one . So a rush job to get to Waltham Cross to collect a car to leave early Monday and delivery to Chesterfield. I took the earliest train possible to get to the dealership in Waltham Cross for 9.00am Was

16th May 25 Yawn!!
After two days at home working on Just1idea-work.com Which was actually supposed to be five days to have a break from the driving and get this website built. A job popped up for today I couldn't say no to. There's that not saying no again! But this was a job from Aylesbury and back to Aylesbury. Return jobs are the things you search for. They are easy, profitable, but can be boring because you simply take the car to someone and bring their part exchange back. You don't use tr

13th May 25. South London
My new customer in Maidstone has given me a job I probably dreaded. When my old boss called me a few weeks ago and offered work. And this is my biggest problem in life and something I need to change quickly. Saying No! However, I agreed to take on the work for them, but Maidstone is completely the opposite side and just as far out of central London as Aylesbury. Where I am based. So to accept a job to take a car from Coulsdon to Maidstone, a 40 min journey, is not time or fi
