Working for yourself has more advantages than disadvantages. Today was one of the latter.
Only because when you are self employed, bank holidays are meaningless. Well for me they are as I just love what I do.
The main disadvantage of working on such holidays are civilians.
People for whom these days are a rare day off from their daily grind. it's getting worse over the years due to the social media sickness of having to do something, simply because everyone else is.
How horrible it must be for these people to go to work the next day having spent the day at home and done non of the things the selfie brigade have achieved and splashed over social media on their day off. Only to now be having a sick day off because the work day is upon them and they can't step down from the unrealistic high from their "simply amazing day, right"
And calling in sick with "mental health issues" and stress.
So yes the roads and trains are full of civilians
Delivery of the Lexus I described yesterday went ok. The buyer was an online trader calling himself "We buy cars direct dot com" working from a house in Hull that has no parking outside due to the double yellows. Huge operation then?
A quick Uber to to Hull railway station. Always cheap and quicker than London.
Next job was to collect a car from York Nissan to take back to Aylesbury .

This meant a train changing at Leeds Or a place Micklefield..
Today there was only one choice, Micklefield.
I wasn't sure why. Until I got to Hull station.
Even at 10am on a bank holiday Hull station was getting very busy. With Leeds fans!
Today there was a open top bus parade in Leeds as the team had won the Championship and promoted to the Premier League.
Now I know and I'm happy that Leeds, as a train change wasn't an option.
The first train from Hull wasn't too busy with them. But obviously the ones on this early train were drinking and noisy. Don't blame them. It was hilarious listening to them. All good fun and harmless. I zipped my jacket up to my neck and sat quietly.
Getting off to change at Micklefield. Which I thought was going to be a nice quiet station. The madness started. The platform was packed with Leeds fans. And all the ones on the Hull train were getting off to add to the numbers.
I was standing at the door when the train pulled in
I decided to be brave. I zipped my jacket down just far enough. It was getting hot anyway. To reveal. My Liverpool FC shirt. Which as Premier League champions. I was proudly (Stupidly) wearing. The doors opened to a small roar from the Leeds fans who, on seeing the red shirt first ripped into me with great humour and funny abuse.
I escaped and luckily they were all headed to Leeds and myself to York. So I was in the opposite platform. But thanks to the Leeds fans for making my day . Looking forward to playing you next season. Always good to get three points

The Train to York was fairly quiet and gave me the views of the Humber Bridge you see above.
Showing my age, I remember when this was built and at the time it was the longest single span bridge in the world.
Arriving at York station . It was another quick Uber to Nissan York to collect the

Nissan Qashqai. Going to my independent Aylesbury customer.
Settling in for the drive back after fueling up the car and something to eat for me. Around 20 minutes into the drive, the engine light came on.
Car running fine. So I monitored it. It's a diesel engine so in all likelihood an emissions or DPF (diesel particulate filter) issue.
It's quite common for the older cars I collect, for the engine or other fault warnings to appear.
This is because the selling dealer, thinking he's smart. Will get a technician to clear the fault codes. Not fix the actual issue. So about 15 to 20 minutes later. The light comes back on.
I actually used to get technicians doing this during the used car prep. Then charging my department for actually fixing the problem.
Ridiculous practices of the motor industry.
The car drove back to Aylesbury absolutely fine. But. If you're doing this always stop and take a photo of the fault light and tell the buyer or where the car is going. As soon as the light comes on.
Got home safely and delivered the car. Taxi instead of the usual bus. Didn't know if the bus runs enough on a holiday.
