Being the person that always admits his mistakes. My wife would not agree with this. But work wise I'm happy to admit them. So today I'll tell you about one I made as it will only reinforce our message that this isn't as easy as it looks.
I put it down to doing far too much. Driving an average of 5500 miles a further 1750 on public transport and walking 40 miles in a month. Is a lot. Add to that the training programs I mentor. Writing this for you. And a few things I've probably forgotten. But still I know I need to give this more attention to the details.
Today I had two jobs . First to go to Coulsdon South station to a new customer I was contacted by. He was actually my old boss when I left the retail side of the car business. I had to collect a Kia Sportage from There and take it to Maidstone. An awkward job and a customer I need to think hard about taking on. Due to the distance from home.
But once at Maidstone after delivering this car. I was heading on the train to Leicester. To collect a car for my Aylesbury independent dealer.
So the train to Coulsdon South is a journey into London Marylebone and then underground to London bridge station . Right at the base of the Shard

Then a direct train to the destination.
Having arrived at the dealership. They obviously have a problem with dealer transfer vehicles.
Actually so did I when I was a sales manager.
Another dealer selling the stock, I had spent time buying and prepping really used to grind my gears. So they went off to look for the car and I wandered around this huge impressive showroom and my first look close up at the Kia EV 9. A quite incredible looking car and I can only imagine how good it is to drive. Hopefully one day I can share that with you.
Having found the car and appraised it using the same app we will show you.

I drove the 35 minutes to Maidstone. Arriving at 10.30. I had plenty of time to get to Leicester by train and home. Wrong.
Here's the cock up.
The day before when I had little time to organise my next day. I had quickly inputted the postcode for collection of the second car and it showed me Leicester.
When I was on the train this morning on the way to Coulsdon. I checked my details and I had obviously got the second collection postcode wrong. It was Shrewsbury.
Quite a difference. And the train to Shrewsbury wouldn't get me there in time.
I had to come clean to my customer. They were ok about it. It wasn't the end of the world for them.
It was for me. I really beat myself up over this stuff. Probably foolishly.
So the train was now to go home. A mess up of my own making. And due to the amount I charged for the short Coulsdon to Maidstone job. Not a profitable one.
Live and learn.
