After two days tearing my hair out trying to help a daughter settle in staying with us short term. (I will judge this "short term" later. In which our kitchen is now suffering the aftermath of a volcanic eruption of various health food supplements, healthy "ready meals" which she has delivered every two weeks apparently. So our fridge is now stuffed with this nonsense and I actually can't count, how many herbal and mushroom based teas we have on display.
So, the relief of getting out on the road was immense.
Only one job today which was a train to Shrewsbury. A place I have never been near so far.

The job is profitable, despite the train journey. But I have devised a very good and only slightly flawed system for buying train tickets. So it was only £34 from Aylesbury.. despite the number of stops and changes. Leaving early enough, I could get there just before 10.00.
Some of the changes were quick enough and I don't mind going through Birmingham as I like New Street station anyway

The job was to collect a 2022 Jaguar E-Pace from the Mercedes dealer here to go back to Aylesbury Land Rover Jaguar. Although they are not Jaguar anymore. (More on this later) I imagine there's enough grey haired middle class Jaguar drivers around Buckinghamshire for them to still sell used Jaguars.
Arriving at the station in Shrewsbury. When you walk out of the station you are faced on the left by an imposing old building built higher up and looks like an old fort or castle.

It's actually a prison! Or rather it was. It's actually now a tourist attraction and popular film and TV location. So having known nothing about it. I have probably seen it a few times. It's allegedly very haunted and you can actually stay there a night if you want to. Have a look here
Incredible.
So a quick and cheap Uber (Always speaks volumes about an area)
And the collection from Mercedes Shrewsbury went hassle free. And the car even had enough fuel to get me back. Great 😃
The journey back was busy and for once it was grey and drizzly. So the roads were busy and wet.

It was a three hour drive so settle in and take care. I took the route you see here. Along the M54 to the M6 and then M42 and M40 to Bicester. Before the A41 to Aylesbury and the Huge. Always empty Land Rover site outside Aylesbury.
I can only imagine the management pressure in a place like this.
I'm always happier, having made the decision to leave that side of the business and enjoy this more relaxed life.
