Today's job was a simple one, train to Melton Mowbray from Aylesbury railway station always starts with the 20 minutes walk from home to Aylesbury station. Which depending on the hour is either in the dark and very early. It's a straight enough walk past the ( closed at this hour) Cambridge street collection of indie grocery stores. Past all the accumulation of different take aways that , if I was walking home later in the day would be an assortment of various smells, good and bad. More on this street later.
After Cambridge Street you go down the underpass under one of the racetrack roads in Aylesbury and onward towards McDonald's..where at this time of the morning the delivery trucks and cages of supplies are wheeled in the side entrance. There is usually always a sad looking soul, alone in the restaurant having a hot drink of some kind. Who looks like they spent the night sleeping close by in some doorway. (Another victim of the terrible housing situation in this country)
Just before McDonald's is a gym, located in what looks like an old DIY stores abandoned location.
The usual collection of flash, but cheap, cars outside. That gym goers love to drive. For example. Four or more previous generation Range Rovers, usually with aftermarket wheels that are obviously too big for the car. Audi's usually A5's or Q7's always 10 years old or more and in a colour that was fashionable when new. Not now. Ditto BMW'S . And always the odd Merc C63 too. Usually about 15 years old. All these cars usually have a numberplate depicting as close as affordable to the owners name. I mean the registered owner, not the "rate for risk" Sub prime finance company that actually owns it. These numbers always look like 5hah, 5ha44k, M0hha4d, or similar. I'm sure you know what I mean.
Apart from the Range Rover crowd, obviously These old high mileage money pits are usually driven by the steroid filled type with a registration number with the prefix B1G follwed by GAZ, GED BAZ or N0B
Sorry, went off on one there.
Onwards to the station and this particular journey takes about five shortish train journeys taking in. Aylesbury, Princess Risborough, Haddenham and Thame Parkway, Leamington Spa, Nuneaton and Melton Mowbray.
I actually enjoy these kind of journeys. Sometimes it's a change from a long trip where your backside gets numb from the worn away seat cushion on most trains. Apart from first class obviously. More on that hateful bunch in future posts.
A 31 minutes walk to the customer where I was collecting a 2013 BMW 420d. In gold!!
On collection the owner was eastern European. People I really like. The car was his pride and joy. But had to go to enable a mortgage on their house. Shame but it was the cleanest car I've collected in a long time. But had aftermarket parts all over it. Like the new model wide-screen Sat-Nav and media screen that you had to plug your phone into. Not great for resale. The garage I'm collecting for probably didn't know or understand this and I guess I'll see this car long into the future on their site when I deliver future cars.
It drove ok and was the guys pride and joy. So I'm not knocking him for it..
Driving back to Aylesbury and the usual X5 bus back home from Aston Clinton where the dealership is located.
