11th February 26 Eastbourne Again

Having collected the Ford Kuga (just) last night from the prep centre in Leighton Buzzard. When dropping off a car to them at the wholly unacceptable (apparently) time of 16.45. How dare I arrive 15 minutes before closing. The jobsworth security guard nearly had a coronary at the thought of potentially working a minute longer than was written on his contract.

The Ford Kuga was going to Ford in Eastbourne. So leaving home as Google maps told me, so I could arrive at opening time. It was an early start. These early starts are very important to this role. It allows you a full day once the first car is delivered. Quite a refreshing feeling to have that first job and more importantly income, in the bag.

The Ford was a pleasant enough drive. The car itself was in very good condition, considering it's a Motability return. These cars can be horrendous things to drive at times. This is due to the previous keeper. Some of the "disabled" drivers just simply don't give a fuck and hand these cars back in some terrible states. Usually the inside is the thing that suffers. Often filthy and abused inside, smelling if smoke if you're lucky, worse if you're not. Although the days when I used to buy these where nine times out of ten the seats had cigarette burns, have gone. Technically you are not allowed to smoke in them now. But you still get them reeking of cigarettes.

Don't these people realise that you can get a bonus of £250 for handing back a car clean and damage free? Obviously not!

So car delivered and a quick Uber to the station and off to Crawley to collect another one going back, again to the prep centre in Leighton Buzzard. If I'm lucky in time to collect another one for tomorrow.

From Eastbourne station it's a couple of stops to Crawley. First Haywards Heath, then the busy Three Bridges station and then Crawley.

From Crawley Railway Station. It was a 28 minute walk. But the rain and the chance to get back to collect another car meant clicking an Uber. And thankfully the 72 plate Vauxhall Mokka was found, eventually, but just down the road in a compound.

While waiting I got an opportunity to see the new Fiat Panda on display. Being a FIAT lover. I had heard they were displaying an Italian car in the showrooms here for people to see. It was left hand drive. But I loved it, but maybe not the colour

Given a choice, it would be very difficult not to choose the Renault 5 but I think the Fiat badge might just swat it for me.

It was tight to get to Leighton Buzzard but I went for it. And failed. The M25 decided to shit itself clockwise and the rain obviously made people crazy and it was not moving.

So I might as well relax. Enjoy the drive. Listen to an audiobook and get myself home and we'll start again tomorrow.

What audio book?

I'm listening to Dianarama. By Andy Webb.

An interesting look at what happend to Diana when she was tricked into the BBC interview with Martin Bashir. A lot of really interesting and forgotten facts about our now, King's behaviour at that time. Shocking really.
