After a thoroughly enjoyable few days off for the Easter weekend. Which is always my favourite holiday as it's the start of the spring & summertime, it's back to work feeling refreshed.
Today's first journey is to Leighton Buzzard, early again for another collection from the huge prep centre there.
Even getting the 7.00am bus. Which I have now found out stops just a few minutes walk from home across the park. This bus takes around 25 minutes and today we had a trainee driver. I survived.
A short 15 minutes walk to the prep centre. So arriving before 8am there are plenty of drivers and transporters waiting. But it's a quick process to obtain the keys, find the car and do the appraisal.

Today I'm off to Leicester. To deliver this brand new Peugeot 2008 to its first owner. It's around an hour and a half drive. I leave the prep centre at just after nine. Head from Leighton Buzzard to Milton Keynes and navigate the roundabouts to the M1 North.
Arriving at the customers address. It's another apathetic owner. I know these are lease cars and maybe a company purchase or business owner. But getting a new car obviously isn't as exciting as it used to be.

Appraisal done. Uber summoned at on to Leicester station. Passing the King Power stadium in the taxi. Where two days ago. Liverpool snatched a late winner and another 3 points. Thanks Trent, who came off the bench to score.
I had already bought tickets for the journey from here to Worksop to collect the car to take back to Aylesbury.

Where I arrived around 14.00 after a short pleasant walk from the station to the dealership to collect a 2018 Ford Focus.
This was a sold car by Aylesbury so a quick appraisal and on the road.
Worksop to the M1 is a pain of a road

The A619 going through a few small towns and villages. Has a few road works and today, closed and diverted road works. So it takes nearly an hour to get to the M1 before I join the heavy, obviously going home after Easter traffic.
A few hours later I'm eventually at the Milton Keynes junction and winding my way again round the roundabouts that I'm getting far to familiar with.
The Focus is actually a good car to drive. I mean good in a normal non expectant way.
I don't want it to be fast, handle like a sports car or excite me.
It just does everything quite well. The controls are light and the gear change is slick. It has enough power. Even from the 1.0 ecoboost engine. It's media system is logical and sat nav works well. It's comfortable and not tiring to drive.
Arriving at the selling dealer between 5-6pm was perfect. Appraisal done and a nice sunny walk home.
Two jobs done. An easy day. Nice train journey. Earned good money.
I'm starting to really feel the benefit of not working for a big company always under the stress of each month's performance.
I think I'm actually getting my mind back.
Life is getting very good 😊
Let's do it again tomorrow.
