11th June 25 A Short Day, Long

Updated: Nov 14, 2025

Two relatively short jobs today. But weirdly awkward and took most of the day.

First job was a collection of a Peugeot 3008 from the preparation centre in Leighton Buzzard again. So the usual bus from Vale Park in Aylesbury to Leighton Buzzard and try to get there early enough, not to have to queue with the line of permanent wearers of the yellow (and oil stained and filthy) high viz jackets

Keys obtained, car found and appraisal done. I was heading to Monks Risborough to deliver the car to a private individual, thankfully close to the station there.

Another fairly disinterested customer later. Handover done and signed off. I was walking to the station for the next leg. A collection of a Nissan X-TRAIL for my independent garage customer outside Aylesbury.

The Nissan dealership I was going to was Rowstock Nissan. Which is the other side of Didcot, Oxfordshire.

The train from Monks Risborough to Didcot Parkway is a two stop journey to Princess Risborough and Oxford first.

Arriving at Didcot Parkway I tried to call an Uber. Nothing. I know Oxford has no Uber coverage but I tried and failed anyway.

I was in the hands of the bandit cab firms. With their "I don't know how much it's on a meter" stock answer to the question of how much please.

So I was pickpocketed for £18 and arrived eventually at the Nissan dealership in the middle of nowhere.

Talk about old school. This place was a throwback to the good old days. I'm surprised there was no perforated hardboard on the walls.

The X-Trail was found for me by the salesman/manager/ dogsbody. Who was very helpful and smart actually. Probably the owners son. I'm guessing.

The car appraised, photographed and fuelled up at the station next door.

The drive back was fairly quiet and quite quick. No drama's with the car at all. It drove very well actually for the age of it.

I imagine these sell very well in the used car market. This was a high mileage car. But it's next owner would be ok buying this.
