21st February 25 A new Arrival

No real work today. But I sub contracted a job on a platform for myself. Being a fan of all things BMW and most things from the 90s except obviously the disastrous 10 years my beloved Liverpool had in the league and most other competitions. Added to that pain, the fact that Manchester United won everything including a lucky comeback in the 99 Champions League final. And FA cup Semi.

The job was to collect for me a 1996 BMW 318i auto Convertible. Only done 70,000 from new in great condition and having an ok service history. I had paid for the car when the collection company had their hands on it and a quick phone call to confirm all ok

A few hours later the green 318 arrived on a truck

It was as described and the only fault being a automatic roof module fault, which, can be found on eBay for about £100 and simple to replace. The rear side trim being removed and the module simple plugs in and a quick reset of the roof and all sorted.

This procedure in the 90s would a booking into a BMW dealer or specialist and a few hours work at great cost. Nowadays. A quick search on YouTube and do it yourself in minutes. I love technology today.

The car drove lovely, considering it had sat idle for a few months but really enjoyed it. No knocking or strange noises and a very together tight car which for 29 years old is incredible really.

Spent the day cleaning and tweaking the old thing and until I get my 1996 328 convertible back from Sicily. Will be a daily used car. In fact and this was risky.

We plan to drive it up to Carlisle then Scotland tomorrow morning 🤔😲
