7th January 26 Campbeltown to Carlisle.

I had been looking forward to today since I booked this job last month. This was going to be worth the long wait yesterday at Buchanan Street Bus station in Glasgow and that four hour bus journey. Some local knowledge of course was welcomed at breakfast from the Hotel proprietor who mentioned a few things to see for someone who also had a six hour drive ahead. So after the amazing breakfast and home made marmalade. After this, it's a diet and more exercise.

I packed up and walked the 10 minutes to get the car from Campbelltown Motor Company. A Peugeot dealer. I'm pretty sure there were few more car dealers locally. But I didn't see any So that explains the high numbers of Peugeot cars I have seen.

Having collected the car, a Mitsubishi Outlander, which is eventually going to Peterborough on Friday. The car really hasn't been looked after by it previous owner there were some stone chips on the front which in this part of the world are going to rust quickly, they had. In

There was some damage to the rear tailgate, again rusted. But the worst was the dirty interior and the mould in the boot and floors inside. Which didn't give a pleasant smell. Obviously the car had been left sitting for a while. When still wet inside and never cleaned. I have to stress that's no reflection on Campbelltown Motor Company. This was a Motability return and nothing to do with them.

I can guarantee 100% that the buyer of this car is going to reject it, unless they have a "relationship" with Motability.

Knowing the group that are buying it. I can imagine that "relationship" exists.

I remember when I used to go to this unnamed large auction group, to buy BMW's and Land Rovers for the main dealers I worked for back in the early 2000s which were supposed to be closed auctions non main dealers. Their buyer. Actually he looked like the boss or owner. With his cuffed shirts and pigskin loafers. The bidding at these auctions was rigged. The auctioneer would end the auction very quickly when this unsavoury character made his bid. With genuine buyers left out who would have paid more for the good stock.

Anyway I digress, again. Sorry rant over.

Today's journey was going to take around six hours. No matter what Google maps says. And with photo stops along the this stunning drive probably longer.

I'll let the photos do the talking today. But this trip is why I started doing this work

Started off with fueling up and putting air in the tyres as the tyre pressure warning light was on.

Then a few photos of Campbelltown itself

Leaving around 10.00am I had opened the car windows and heated it up sufficiently to get rid of the smell and started the drive north. Yes north as you can see below.

The first part of the journey through Glasgow takes you north along the western coast, then the eastern coast of the peninsula. And it's a spectacular drive. The sea on the left to start giving you almost an hour of crashing sea. And stunning views

Nearly every corner turned brings a smile and a genuine sense of just how lucky I am to be doing this. And getting paid for it 😁

Then the road crosses the to eastern coast and the views just keep coming.

The next part of this journey goes from Loch Fyne to Glasgow along the hills and down past Loch Lomond. Stunning as you can see. The roads were so quiet. I could stop and take these photographs.

After Loch Lomond. Past Dumbarton and onto the Great West Road towards Glasgow before the cityscape takes over and the M8 turns into the M74 southbound to Carlisle and this Scottish adventure is finished for now.
