30th May 25. To Wales

Updated: Nov 5

Today Was another quick trip to Leighton Buzzard to the often visited prep centre there. lately, avoiding asking for help from anyone. Do you remember my encounter there previously ? For those who know. This will explain this course of action.

I took the X4 bus from Aylesbury to Milton Keynes which now stops right outside the centre.

I was collecting another Peugeot 3008 from there, this time to be taken to a customer in Cardiff, Wales. Then I had found another job actually from Cardiff back to the prep centre.

Once the lengthy appraisal was completed, I escaped the compound and got signed off at the gate and began the long journey to Wales.

From Leighton Buzzard the journey takes you across country and almost directly west Out the A4146 from Leighton Buzzard and back towards Aylesbury until you get to Wing. yes there is a place called Wing near Leighton Buzzard. I know right?

you then turn right at Stewkley Road and again into the countryside Until you get to Stewkley and turn left before the village past "South end" onto Dunton Road on further to Whitchurch and Backgrove road to pick up the A41 towards Bicester. Crossing the M40 after Bicester, takes you towards Oxford and from there you have options to go south on the A34 towards Newbury and pick up the M4 there or take the A420 from Oxford to Swindon which is a much prettier route. Bypassing Swindon to the East and then pick up the M4 west. Where soon you are flying over the Prince of Wales bridge funnily enough into Wales

The customer for the 3008 lived in the north of the city and once the car was safely delivered to a welcoming customer. An Uber was summoned to go the Skoda Dealer in the south west of Cardiff to collect an Audi Q3 Motability return going back to the prep centre in Leighton Buzzard. Being Cardiff the Uber options are many and cheap.

So only a few minutes wait and we were on route to Skoda Cardiff. arriving there in 15 minutes and the car was, as usual for Motability returns stored in the furthest place possible as I have mentioned before.

These returns are sold on Motability's website to the trade only. The dealer who sold the car to the Motability customer originally has to take it back at the end of contract usually. So Motability get free storage of there huge fleet of cars waiting for new owners.

So the car was located and appraisal done and signed. I fuelled up and was soon heading back east on the M4 the way I came.

Due to the wait for locate the car. there wasn't enough time to get back to the prep centre before five o'clock closing time. So, as the car was not due to get there until next week. And, I had another collection from there on Monday. So the planning worked, this time.

Being a Friday the traffic home on the M4 was heavy. as last Monday was a bank holiday the traffic was not bad heading east. Going west though, it was at a standstill. people heading for the last weekend of their extended weeks holiday going for some early sunshine in the west country I guess.

Going through Oxford on a Friday afternoon is something to be avoided. Please avoid it it's horrible.

Eventually arriving home around 7pm I was getting towards Oxford at five. and its usually a 40 minute drive. Avoid....

Its the weekend at last !
