After a nice few days off. Making bread on Saturday as I'm trying to replicate my mother's famous Jewish rye bread recipe. (I'm not Jewish or religious. I do believe in God, just not yours) The results were ok but I just can't get it the same. I need to get more patience from somewhere.
Today's tasks were to deliver the Audi Q3, I collected on Friday to the prep centre in Leighton Buzzard and collect from there, a Kia X-Ceed for Motability, again, and delivery it to an independent dealer in Sutton in Ashfield. Near Mansfield . Between Sheffield and Nottingham for those who don't know.
So dropped off the Audi after my appraisal and went to the collection point to collect the Kia.
They found it quickly for me and once I had the keys I was on my way from there to the M1 northbound. Only a dozen or so roundabouts to navigate. Then M1 all the way

This was going again to what looks like an independent dealer. When I arrived I was surprised how large an operation it was . And looking very well organised too. Unlike most main dealer sites.

I had a shortish wait until the correct person to receive cars was available and he actually had a good look round the car to check for damage and took his time doing so.
I wouldn't have minded, but it meant nothing. He had days to show any damage or any issues and make a claim with the supplier. In this case Motability. When you buy cars from them there is a very strict process for damage and you can claim for a lot of it on their portal. And you have plenty of time to do it. If my memory is correct, and these days I'm not sure. You have 5 days to claim.
So his pointless appraisal over, pointless to me I suppose as I had to needlessly wait.
I got myself extracted from their secure compound and I tapped for an Uber to Mansfield. 20 minutes away. I normally would have got a train from Sutton Parkway to Mansfield. But I had a busy day and speed was more important than saving a couple of quid.
I arrived at the independent dealer where I was collecting a BMW X1 to be delivered to Peterborough
I say "independent dealer" I mean bomb site and Portacabin.
As a kid in Liverpool I remember rows of houses with a few missing. Corrugated sheets loosely pinned to posts to keep people out. I never thought anything about it. And parents being Liverpool parents. They never explained stuff to their offspring. I now know these were houses, that weren't there, because they were bombed in WW2. I imagine these sites being in the city eventually were rebuilt, or used as sites for various businesses. One being filling them full of used cars for sale, and an old caravan as an office. Hence the phrase " Bomb site"
The young gentleman. (Pikey looking kid) Showed me the X1 . It was hanging. Not a straight panel. Steering wheel going one way. Front wheels the other. It drove horribly.
All I needed was for it to get me to Peterborough. So, "appraisal" done . No way I had time to list every dent and scrape. So I did a video. And uploaded to my digital appraisal.
Took the keys, dodgy service history and V5 registration document. And limped to the nearest fuel station as it was on zero miles range.
Then onto the A616 towards Newark and the A1 south. A trip of around an hour and a half

Arriving in Peterborough and finding the address, I was surprised. But not the first time I had delivered a car to a private address doubling as a car selling business.
This was a very large and well groomed, gated house on an expensive looking road, for Peterborough anyway.
I called the number and no answer but the gate was open and I drove the BMW in and parked in a row of around five or six cars obviously for sale.
I knocked on the door and a woman answered. Obviously, and I have no problem with this. Other than the obvious thing that she, In her religion is a inferior being to the males of the household. She was the sort of woman who doesn't, or isn't allowed to talk to western men. Or if she does, as little as possible.
So I explained I was dropping off the car and asked her to sign my appraisal which she reluctantly did.
My job done I walked to Peterborough station around 25 minutes away on foot.
As a non religious person. I don't understand how religion can divide us . It's a shame it does.
That's why I stay out of it. Simple.

I had another job quoted for on my job portal. Which would have been a collection from Hinckley to Leighton Buzzard But with no response and me not wanting to lower my price. I preferred to just make my way from Peterborough station back to Aylesbury and home.
Another day done 👍🏼
