I'm going to call this very smart planning. Some cynical people would say just a lucky break. When I got back to the family home in Carlisle yesterday after my first ever trip to Bradford. Two jobs popped up. One from my regular customer near home to collect a car from Huddersfield to go to Aylesbury. Then, looking at a job portal to see what's available. There was a job from Hexham to, would you believe, Bradford.
So I was able to leave the BMW we had just bought, in the nice dry underground garage at the parents home. For a little while.
A quick look at the train options and it's a short journey from Huddersfield to Bradford Interchange . You can go either direct or via Leeds the latter only costing me £7.70 using the amazing money saving app. I can share with you. The direct train, being even cheaper at £6.10
So an early train to Hexham which is a direct service costing around £7.00
So instead of having to drive all the way home today. I was able to get two jobs and get paid to take us both home. Knowing that the car was safe and dry.
The train journey to Hexham is an older train and feels a bit outdated, cold and noisy, compared with most but it got there by 9.00am. and a very short walk to the Vauxhall dealership to collect the car, which coincidentally was going to exactly the same dealership in Bradford that I had collected from yesterday. Unbelievable!
That car delivered. Which, on a beautiful sunny morning was lovely drive through some amazing countryside. Then, that same short walk to the station as yesterday but in reverse. This time I was able to show my wife the square in Bradford I had told her about yesterday !

While walking, I quickly booked the tickets for the train to Huddersfield for us. Arrived at the station with a few minutes to spare and boarded the train.
Sometimes days go like clockwork. But it is actually all in the planning and the better you get at it, you can get days like this .
It's days like this, especially when the sun is shining, when things come together, due to your planning and sometimes the Gods come together to help. That makes this work a wonderful opportunity to travel, relax into any journey and actually enjoy life.
I was getting into a real desk bound, lifeless job. My job had been previously, about moving around the place I worked, talking to people and getting things done. It had turned lately over the last few years, to be a spreadsheet and analytical type of job with all the old entrepreneurship stripped out of it.
You could no longer buy, value or sell a car using your skill, market knowledge, local understanding, seasonal changes or simple gut feeling. Today you had to buy a car using algorithms and spreadsheets. Not for me anymore. I'm travelling, learning, sightseeing, meeting people. Enjoying life again and my mind is so much better. I'm healthier and smiling.
Arrived at Huddersfield and made our way to the site and collected the Vauxhall Mokka to drive us home to Aylesbury.
Two jobs done today. Arrived home in no rush as I could deliver the car first thing tomorrow morning.
Earned money, stored the BMW safely and will look at some point for a long job to Carlisle to bring it back and get it sold for a nice profit.

Life's good 😊
