12th June 25 How Did That Happen?

Looking back and writing about today. I don't know how I managed to get this job and fit it into an already busy week.

When I saw this job on one of the work portals. I had managed to cancel off a smaller job ok and got this much longer and obviously more lucrative piece of work going from Aylesbury Mercedes to Kelso in the Scottish borders and a return car , a customer part exchange back to Aylesbury.

I had agreed to collect the car, a Mercedes EQA last night and as I had another delivery from them on Friday, tomorrow. I could drop off the part exchange, a 2021 GLA 250 when I collect the car for delivery tomorrow.

It was a long drive and we needed a hotel for last night so we decided, my wife would accompany me, to drive as far as possible last night and find a hotel as close as possible to the Scottish border.

So half of this job being last night where we actually managed to get as far as North of Newcastle, finding a hotel just off the A1 which we arrived at around 11.30 pm

The drive north was as good as always at this time of year. Staying light until nearly 11pm as we approached Newcastle. The. Weather, clear blue skies and amazing views, until darkness fell.

The only real photo opportunity as I drove, non stop was to wonder if, this young lady on the advertising board in the gents toilet actually knew that thousands of men would be looking at her with their privates in their hands.

Poor girl
Poor girl

How do I think about this?? Sorry for the poor girl. Shame on the company who did it.

So little time for photos today and look what I do. Apologies.

An early start to try and arrive at the customers house around 9 to 10am and the drive into the Scottish borders was stunning. What a lovely area to drive and admire the beautiful countryside and the weather was again, perfect for doing it.

We found the address and the customer was ready for us and had all the paperwork ready for the return car. A call, half an hour before had made him aware of our arrival time. I can't stress how important this is. It saves the customer from being surprised and not ready for you. And it gives me piece of mind to know it will go smoothly and quickly.

No time for too many pleasantries but a quick chat as I did my two appraisals. To find this retired couple were English and had lived there for a number of years. And they simply fancied going all electric for their new car.

Kelso was a beautiful place again the sunshine helps. A place I had never been to before. Despite my formative years from nine to early twenties. Being spent living in South West Scotland.

Unfortunately I could only take in the views whilst driving. But my wife Alda thoroughly enjoyed the drive and views of places never before seen.

We did make one emergency stop at a supermarket to try and buy things unavailable in the south of England.

A Scotch Pan loaf, Scotch pies, Proper Lorne Sausage, and some cheese crisps and rolls

Anyone who knows.. Knows.

Proper unhealthy bread

A couple of slices of this with two pieces of sliced Lorne beef sausage. Is something to behold. I'll be healthy tomorrow.

This was for taking home. For lunch a couple of cheese crisp rolls. Again, if you know. You know.

The car going back to Aylesbury. The Part exchange Mercedes GLA 250 was. Actually cleaner, and as damage free. If not more so than the car the customer bought. I couldn't find anything to report. Not a blemish.

Unlike his new car. See below.

The drive back south was long and arduous but the car was a pleasure to drive. Much better than the new on we delivered.

Down the A1, to the M1 southbound and mile after mile of motorway until we hit Milton Keynes and the monotonous motorway turned into monotonous roundabouts. Until we go to the A428 and Aylesbury around 10 pm

A good night sleep awaits until a new and equally busy day tomorrow.

But a great earning day as two jobs there and back.

Good night 😴
